Sound artist Kepla has joined forces with New York media theorist and music writer DeForrest Brown Jr. on a new release titled ‘Absent Personae’.
In a fusing field recordings and spoken word, the progressive project was commissioned by the Electronic Voice Phenomena, as “an interstitial spectre in transition, resonating with the sinister politics pseudo-science histories, while speculating on identity as evasion and persona without orientation”, according to the press release.
The label explained: “The piece is a post-industrial Dérive considering the psychological liminal zones between old and new industry and urbanity, the changing landscapes labor: a fractured genealogical memory trace obscured by intercepted signals and the liquidating flux late capitalism.”
‘Absent Personae’ is due out September 29 on vinyl, with track ‘Absent Personae Postscript’ scheduled as a bonus addition.
